Visit of the Kojima

2016/5/13
As part of a round-the-world training voyage, the Japan Coast Guard training ship Kojima docked at the Port of San Francisco (Pier 30/32) on Friday, May 13th, 2016.
A welcome ceremony was held immediately after the ship docked. Consul General Yamada, members of the Japanese American community and maritime community, US Coast Guard officials, representatives from local schools, and other community members joined together to welcome the Kojima crew and cadets.
The Kojima is on a 3-month deep sea training voyage for officer candidates who graduated from the Japan Coast Guard Academy in March 2016.
While the Kojima is in San Francisco, a public viewing will be held aboard the ship on May 16. Members of the local community will be able to interact with the crew. There is no need to sign up in advance, so please feel free to stop by and see the ship.
